How do I apply for a vacancy at AIS Vienna?
Applications for open International Hire positions must be submitted through the APLi recruiting tool. See the section "Application Process for Teachers" above for more details. To apply, create a candidate profile in the APLi, as AIS Vienna does not accept applications or CVs for international hire positions outside of the APLi applicant tracking system. There is no membership fee involved for non-Search Associates applicants. Early submission is encouraged.
Applications for Local Hire positions or Instructional Assistant & Support Staff positions must be submitted via email to hr@ais.at. To apply please email a cover letter and resume, along with copies of your passport and residence/work permit (for non-EU citizens) as one single PDF. Please indicate the position you are applying for in the subject line and include where/how you found this vacancy posting.
How long does it take for an application to be processed?
Applications are reviewed as soon as possible after closing the vacancy posting. If your application matches the profile we seek, it will be sent to the respective hiring committee for reviewing. If the hiring committee expresses interest in your application, you will be contacted as soon as possible.
For International Hire positions: The AIS Vienna APLi system will notify you if your application was not selected for further reviewing. If we decide to move forward with your application, we will arrange to meet with you in a virtual interview setting or at an upcoming recruitment fair we are attending.
How long does it take you to make a decision on an advertised vacancy?
It depends on the circumstances and the number of qualified applicants. Typically, for an International Hire vacancy, it can take two to three months from the time the position is first advertised. Please note that AIS Vienna reserves the right to make a hiring decision and close the selection process before the posted deadline, in the event that an outstanding candidate is identified early on in the search process.
Does AIS Vienna consider candidates residing outside the US?
AIS Vienna recruits teaching and administrative positions on a broad geographical basis. However, Local Hire, Instructional Assistant and Support staff positions are typically filled with candidates already residing in the local Vienna, Austria area.
I am registered with a recruitment agency you work with. Do I also need to register with APLi via your school website?
You are required to apply via APLi. Our principals will also search for candidates via recruitment agencies (listed above). We encourage you to use both application channels to increase your chances that your resume will be seen. Please note that applying through APLi via our website is free of charge.
Who is a locally hired teacher?
Locally hired teachers are those who have come to Vienna of their own accord and are subsequently hired by AIS Vienna. Their decision to come to Vienna may be to accompany a spouse or partner working in Vienna, or another circumstance that would result in them being here prior to the hiring process. Since the school has not recruited these employees to come to Vienna specifically to work at AIS Vienna, the employment contract will not include relocation benefits such as transportation, shipping, etc. Salary and benefits related to the work contract, such as health insurance and pension, will be included in the contract unless otherwise provided through another source i.e. a spouse's or partner's employment contract.
When should I apply for a locally hired Instructional Assistant or Support Staff position at AIS Vienna?
All applicants for these positions must already be residing in the local Vienna, Austria area and have the required residence/work permit for employment in Austria. Applicants are requested to follow the application process as indicated in the vacancy posting. AIS Vienna will only consider applications for advertised vacancies on our Employment Page.
Do I have to pay to apply for a position at AIS Vienna?
AIS Vienna will not request or require applicants to cover costs for application fees, interview fees, visas, plane tickets, or other costs associated with recruitment or relocation to Austria. AIS Vienna will not ask candidates for information related to bank accounts or other private information. Further information will only be collected after a letter of intent or a formal contract has been signed. If you have been asked by AIS Vienna or another international school to transfer money to cover such recruitment costs, you are probably the target of an elaborate scam. Several renowned international schools have recently had their websites cloned, and candidates have been asked to transfer large amounts of money. All international applicants are urged to be vigilant in investigating potential schools for hiring during the recruitment process and prior to signing an employment contract. Please take extreme caution if you have been requested to send money or share private information.
