Volunteer

AISV community members support student growth through their gifts of time and talent. There are many diverse ways for parents, alumni and friends to get involved in the student educational experience.

The Gift of Time

Opportunities for all community members to give back, regardless of their professional background

  • The Parent Teacher Forum (PTF) is a group of volunteers who work to connect parents with each other and our school. They serve AISV by providing volunteer support for many school and classroom activities. The PTF also hosts several events throughout the school year, including Bingo Night and the International Food Festival.

Visit the PTF webpage to learn more.

  • The Booster Club (Boosters) is an independent organization established in 1977 to support athletes and athletics at AISV. It is run by volunteers and governed by a five-member board. It has steadily grown to become an integral part of the athletic program and the school. The Boosters' principal goals are to promote enthusiasm and support for AISV athletic programs, to provide financial aid to athletic programs, to ensure that AISV athletes are competitive, and to recognize AISV athletes for their contributions and participation. To accomplish this, the Boosters raise funds through a variety of ways, including sales of food, drinks, and clothing. Volunteers are welcome and essential to the success of the club.

  • AISV supports parents who wish to be actively engaged as volunteers at the school. Volunteers provide a valuable service and are very much appreciated. Some volunteer opportunities include working with classroom teachers and librarians. Volunteers in classrooms may be assigned to work with individual children, especially in the lower grade levels. For the purposes of establishing a routine and schedule, AISV requires a commitment of at least one morning or afternoon per week.

The Gift of Talent

Opportunities for community members to share their specific professional expertise

  • The AIS Vienna Middle School Future Forward program launched in 2021-2022 and aims to:

    • Empower and inspire students to follow their passions.

    • Explore and solve problems using critical thinking and innovation.

    • Collaborate within and beyond the school community to positively impact others.

    It works through:

    • Dedicated time within the rotation schedule for students

    • Combination of designed and self directed courses

    • Course mentor/coaches to guide students in their discovery

We are seeking community members to coach/mentor a Future Forward session!

Please contact the Community Engagement & Advancement Coordinator if you have a passion project, expertise, or special interest that you'd like to share with Middle School students.

  • Committees and Task Forces create a structure for leveraging Executive Board member time and talent against areas of strategic priority and toward responsibilities that require team engagement in order to prepare information, proposals, etc. for full Board review. Committees and Task Forces allow for non-Board members on a case-by-case basis to contribute their expertise for the betterment of the school.

  • AISV is governed by a 10-member Executive Board, eight of whom are elected by the Parents' Association that sponsors the School, one who is appointed by the U.S. Ambassador, and the Director (ex-officio). Membership in the Association is automatically conferred on the parents or guardians of children enrolled in the School.

The Executive Board sets general policies and is responsible for hiring the School Director, who oversees the operations of the school.

  • The AISV community includes an outstanding number of talented professionals. From astronauts to CEOs to authors, we are happy to accommodate community members wishing to share their expertise with our students.

Please contact the Community Engagement & Advancement Coordinator for more information.
