Our Campus
Our 11-acre campus overlooks the city and is adjacent to the famous Vienna Woods and the beautiful landscape of the Neustift vineyards, which provide a peaceful, conducive learning environment.
This is our Main Gate and Bus Parking Lot located on Keylwerthgasse. This is our first impression to guests visiting for sports tournaments, conferences, college fairs, etc.
To enter AIS Vienna, you must first check in here with our security team. This is also the entrance for all Middle and High School students and faculty.
From just inside the Main Gate, you can see the Bus Parking Lot, the Middle School, Theater, and the path to our Sports Field, Sports Hall, and Playground.
The AIS Vienna campus consists of an Elementary, Middle, and High School in separate wings of a larger, interconnected building. Teaching all AISV students in one broad facility contributes to the sense of family on the AISV campus.
Welcome to the AIS Vienna Theater. Renovated in 2012 and updated in 2023, the Theater hosts musicals, plays, talent shows, concerts, and assemblies.
The AIS Vienna Performing Arts programs take pride in their work and the Theater provides the perfect backdrop to showcase our talented young student performers.
The Theater provides the space and technological resources to let the AIS Vienna Theater Arts Program shine.

Built in 1900, the Villa is the oldest part of AIS Vienna.
The Villa is home to the Admissions, Advancement, Alumni, Human Resources, Business, and Director’s Offices.
This is the main entrance and security gate for our Elementary School families located at Salmannsdorfer Strasse 47 (Entrance E).
The Elementary School Administrative Assistant and Principal are located just inside the ES Entrance, providing a hub of excitement and information for current ES families.
Every Elementary School class is designed to encourage creativity and play, and to help us foster our core values - respect, aspire, and achieve.
The Elementary School consists of students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 and strives to ignite joy for learning and ensure that each year at AIS is the best year in every child’s life so far.
This is the Grade 6 floor, also home to the MS Office. The AISV Middle School consist of students Grade 6 through Grade 8, with each grade having their own floor of the building where they meet as a community.
The MS Learning Commons is a flexible multipurpose learning space.
The AIS Vienna High School consists of about 270 students Grade 9 through Grade 12.
This is the main entrance to the High School. The HS Administrative Assistant and Principal are on this floor, and these stairs lead directly to the Cafeteria and Secondary Library.
AIS Vienna has an incredibly strong Science Program, ranging from Pre-Kindergarten to Higher Level IB Physics. The AISV campus has seven fully equipped science labs.
Excellent schools are led by excellent faculty. AISV teachers are highly dedicated and respected professionals that incorporate a spectrum of techniques to create a learning environment that meets every student’s abilities.
The AISV Cafeteria seats about 270 students that rotate through during staggered lunch times. This is the main dining hall, though Middle and High School students may also choose to eat in the smaller Café, on the terrace, or in the outdoor Amphitheater.
The Cafeteria provides a comfortable functional facility for students to enjoy each other's company.
The Mike Maloy Gym is the main location for all-school assemblies. It is also the location of the annual ES UN Day parade.
The walls of the Mike Maloy Gym are lined with inspirational banners featuring AISV students who have achieved their goals both in the classroom and on the field.
The Sports Hall is the largest multi-purpose space at AISV and is utilized for a variety of events.
The Sports Hall is used for the annual and highly anticipated International Food Festival, along with other great events.
At the back of the field, there is an enclosed Fun Court with a full-size basketball court, soccer goals and a volleyball court. In addition, there is a recreation area with basketball hoops, recess courts and table tennis. For track and field, there are sprint lanes, a safety-netted discus/shot put throw, and a long jump/triple jump pit.
The Lower Gym is a purpose-built gymnastics center. Almost all Elementary Physical Education classes are held here because it allows for free gymnastics play and provides young learners a chance to safely practice new techniques.
The AIS bleachers can seat about 260 spectators, with many more fans lining the field for our popular soccer tournaments. Proud Knights fans spend many afternoons on campus cheering on our athletes and enjoying fresh food provided by Boosters.
Almost every indoor ball sports tournament is held at AISV is in the Mike Maloy Gym. The removable nets and goals make it a valuable multi-purpose space.
AIS Vienna is located on the edge of the Vienna woods and the Sports Field provides one of the best views of this beautiful area.
Recently renovated, the Elementary School Playground occupies a beautiful outdoor space that allows for complete supervision.
Playtime is essential for growing minds. The AISV Elementary School Playground provides a safe space to test boundaries and build strength, allowing for calmer minds in the classroom.
The Elementary School Playground is a favorite among visiting prospective students. While starting at a new school can often seem scary, there is something irresistible about an open swing and a new friend.
Officially opened by Dr. Jane Goodall in the fall of 2014, the Outdoor Classroom is built on the fundamental principle that children are learning everywhere and all the time.
This space provides an opportunity for students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 to learn about the weather, plants, composting, and our environment in a natural space.
Elementary School students are naturally curious, and our science program is designed to nurture that curiosity. In our Outdoor Classroom and ES Science & Innovation Lab, our students are learning to think like scientists.
Our Elementary School learners are questioning the world around them, identifying patterns, understanding cause and effect, and learning to view the natural world as a series of interconnected systems.
At the start of the 2020-2021 school year, we were fortunate enough to cut the ribbon on our brand new Elementary School Library.
The AIS Vienna Sports Field, renovated in 2017, includes lines for two standard and two cross-court soccer fields; two regulation softball diamonds with drop-in bases; a measured-mile run; and training grids for PE drills. There is likely not another field like it in the world.
The Elementary School Library offers more than 12,000 books to young AIS readers.
The Elementary School Library is specifically designed to give young learners a comfortable space to explore their literary interests.
The ES Library regularly invites songwriters and storytellers to entertain students and ignite a passion for reading and writing.
The ES Library is open on school days from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. All Elementary School students have library time once in every eight-day rotation schedule, but are also able to stop by anytime during the school day (with teacher permission, of course).
The Secondary Library underwent a major renovation during the summer of 2018 and is open on school days from 8:00 AM-4:00 PM.
The Secondary Library offers more than 25,000 books to AIS Middle and High School students.
The Secondary Library is a favorite hangout space for students, whether they need to do some research for class, some studying, catch up on some reading, or just spend a little time relaxing.
The Secondary Library is used as a major study area on campus and even has a separate room for students if they need a little extra quiet to do their work.
The Amphitheater is a central area on the AIS campus and is the most popular place for Middle and High School students who decide to eat their lunch outside.
When the sun is out, the energy is palpable in the students that fill the Amphitheater hoping to soak up a few rays of sunshine between classes.
The Amphitheater is a common meeting place for students to study or snack, but is also used for classes, the Annual Pops Concert, Parent Teacher Forum meetings, the class graduation photo, Boy Scouts meetings, etc.
Getting to AIS Vienna by Public Transportation
From the U4/U6 Spittelau subway station, take the 35A bus in the direction of Salmannsdorf. Stay on the 35A until the last stop (Salmannsdorf end station) where the bus turns around. When you get off the bus, walk up the hill. Take the small road on your right (Sulzweg) and continuing up the hill, turn left onto Maulbertschgasse. At the top of this road you will see the school ahead of you. The main entrance (Main Office, Entrance V) is to the right, up the street, then to the left on Salmannsdorferstrasse. It takes approximately 11 minutes to walk to AISV from the 35A bus stop.
