AISV Robotics in Bucharest
Over the past weekend, ten students from our AISV High School Robotics Team traveled to Bucharest, Romania, to participate in the 2024 CEESA Robotics Tournament. Our team arrived with two robots - one built by 9th and 10th graders (Team Green), and the other built by 11th and 12th graders (Team White).
This tournament follows the VEX “V5” Robotics Competition Program. In every game, there is a set of challenges worth a certain number of points each. Designing a robot to be successful in any of these tasks involves engineering and coding - with lots of collaborative problem solving. Since robots have particular strengths that students choose to aim for, every team benefits from being paired up with other teams throughout the qualification sequence in alliances. Both of our teams made it to the quarter finals of the tournament, and took home many lessons learned for improving on their designs and strategies next season.
Before their return to Vienna, our students went downtown for a walking tour of Bucharest Old Town and its most notable historic points of interest such as the Roman Atheneum and the Palace of Parliament.
Congratulations to our HS Robotics students on their jobs well done this season!
