Print Workshop at Druckwerk Wien

On January 30, a group of Grade 7 and Grade 8 Art Explorations students took part in a special day of printmaking at Druckwerk Wien, a community art space in Vienna run by local printmaking artist Renata Darabant.

The students had an opportunity to experience the setting of working artists in Vienna and print some of their own artworks with the assistance of Ms. Darabant and three of her studio assistants. They rotated through workshops in three different print methods: intaglio, relief, and screen printing.

Students produced a body of work they had been preparing for weeks in advance: a linocut self-portrait, a drypoint etching of a hero, and graphics related to the theme of the project: We’re in This Together. Watch for an upcoming exhibition of their collaborative work.
