Visiting Artist

We were thrilled to host Visual Artist Ian Murphy for a three-day series of workshops!

Ian Murphy is a renowned Fine Artist whose studio practice involves a multitude of mixed media, drawing, and painting techniques. He is best known for his powerful, tonal drawings and atmospheric, mixed-media oil paintings of architectural sites.

Our High School and Middle School Art students had the opportunity to learn first-hand how layered surfaces can have a strong influence on working methods. The three-day session included a talk about Ian's practice as he showed a portfolio of his work, live demonstrations, a hands-on workshop for students in drawing, painting, and mixed media, and tutorials with each student about their own practice.
