Green Roof Prototype: Empowering Environmental Action

AISV is committed to continually developing an environmentally friendly school by raising environmental awareness, making environmentally friendly decisions, and including environmental action and education in our daily routine. As we consider long-term options for a full-sized green roof on parts of campus, the Annual Fund was able to purchase a prototype. The sedum mats are self-sustaining patches of vegetation that mimic the effects of a full green roof. The mats are currently being used for experiments that are helping students find ways to minimize our collective carbon footprint and incorporate sustainable practices into daily life.
